Our Organisation |
|
INTEGRITY Care is a non government aid organisation, based in Australia
but working with partners around the world. The concept of partnership
is that each member of the partnership brings to the table certain
attributes to achieve a particular goal. Each partner in our network is
a vital part to our success.
At INTEGRITY Care we aim to build capacity at every level, bringing
experience, resources and personal presence to achieve the improvement
of people’s lives. We focus generally on longer term solutions rather
than short term “fixes”, although sometimes we become involved because
of a short term urgent need.
INTEGRITY Care values all our partners giving full regard to our
cultural differences. We cannot achieve the goals alone and in fact
absolutely rely on one another. Each partner’s contribution is therefore
highly valued as we see how peoples of different cultures, languages and
locations can work together.
INTEGRITY Care adopts a holistic approach to eliminating
poverty, as it affects people at three levels.
1. Mind/heart – Holding to the strong belief that
they are beyond help and can see no way to help themselves out of their
circumstances.
2. Self-concept/emotions – Feeling that they are inferior in their
design and prospects as a person. Being downcast in their outlook on the
world and how they will interact with it.
3. Physical/health. Having insufficient of the practical needs (food,
shelter, clothing, security) required to live and grow in health, safety
and comfort.
By changing people we can change communities & nations.
So, we want to facilitate holistic change in people’s worlds and
do so sustainably. This requires that we not only help them physically,
but also teach them to think and act in a manner that will lead to sustainable,
positive change because their decisions and conduct is based on right
principles.
Our 4 levels of engagement are:
1. Integrity Care understands that people can only reach
their maximum potential when they are free from theirs cares of basic
survival. For this reason our fundamental level of care (the ‘Hand-out
program), provides for peoples emergency relief from suffering needs.
Everybody needs a handout at some stage in his or her life, but to lock
people into this as a lifestyle creates dependency, hopelessness and lack
of personal dignity. So we progress people as quickly as is sensible to
the stage where they can contribute to their own care.
2. After their survival needs are met, people want to
do something to help themselves. Abraham Lincoln once said, “We
cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should
be doing for themselves.”
For this reason, we major on connecting people’s
innate gifts and abilities with how they make a living through small business.
We call this Micro-Enterprise Development (MED). We do this by a combination
of small development loans and business training.
3. Our end-in-mind is not to create capitalists, but
responsible, values-driven leaders. So our training combines technical
skills with leadership skills that require participants to live values-centred
lives that will influence others into right living. Our leadership training
extends beyond business entrepreneurs to community and government leaders,
by seminars, distance education and online delivery.
4. For real community transformation to be effected we
facilitate macro-business opportunities as they arise. From this larger
pool of wealth, communities are empowered to identify and drive their
own development agenda.
Through our specialist learning arm, the ‘HIGH
Ground’ Centre, Integrity Care offers the following programs for
developing ‘entrepreneurs in life’. All our programs are designed
to support, train and motivate people involved in any form of career,
business or organisational development.
